We interviewed Barbara Golkowska. She is 49 years old and she is a teacher in La Plana de Vic. We have chosen this work because we think that teachers will be more valued and will be important in the future.
1- What tasks do you do in your job?
I teach mathematics to the students and I also go to some meeting with other teachers.
2- What type of materials do you use?
I usually use books, computers, calculators…
3- What skills or abilities do you need to be a teacher?
Teachers need a lot of patience because lots of students don’t listen and make a lot of noise
4- What studies do you have?
I have the pre-university studies and a degree in maths.
5- Are the new technologies involved in your job?
Yes, we use computers to do some works and to search for information.
6- How many hours do you work a week?
I do 18 hours teaching, and more doing the meetings and correcting.
7- What do you think your job will be like in the future?
I think that this job won’t change a lot, technology will be more used.
8-Do you think that your job is valued by the society?
Not a lot, I think that it’s an important job but all the people think that it is not important and
it’s easy.
9- Do you think that is a vocational job?
Yes, if you don’t like it it’s very difficult to work in it.
10- What are the advantages of your job?
When some students learned something, it’s very satisfactory. Teachers also have long holidays, and this is good because you need a lot of time to rest.
11- What are the disadvantages?
You need to have patience because some students disturb to others.
12- What was your first experience?
I started with some practices so it was good because I was with some professional teachers.
13- Do you like this job or would you like to do another one?
I like it but it’s hard.
